Friday Art Club

artSpace comes to the Glasshouses with creative workshops for all secondary students.

Multiple Dates
-
June 21, 2024

Art sessions led by artist Claire Beattie on Friday afternoons from 2 - 3:45 pm for all secondary pupils in the Glasshouses at the Hugo Burge Foundation Creative Spaces.

Be inspired by the botanical forms, patterns and architectural structures of the restored glasshouses at our Creative Spaces. Sessions will take place inside the glasshouses and will include drawing, painting and printmaking activities taking inspiration from these unusual and inspiring surroundings.  They will focus on how experimenting with materials, thinking creatively and making your own connections to your surroundings can aid well-being allowing time to switch off and enjoy a different experience.

Claire is an artist and creative practitioner with a wealth of experience working with schools and young people and currently facilitates workshop sessions for the Hugo Burge Foundation, National Galleries of Scotland and Museums Northumberland as well as working with adult groups in the local community

The sessions are free with the option to make a voluntary donation to cover the materials provided.

A mini bus is provided, free of charge, to and from Berwickshire High School car park.

As an artist — and young people should know this — you don't have to make art that makes people happy. You have to make art that makes people feel.
