Christmas in the Courtyard

A festive event to meet makers, artists, and craftspeople and shop for something special to take home with you.

December 6, 2025

We're putting logs on the fire, warming up the mulled wine, and getting out our best Christmas jumpers for the Hugo Burge Foundation's Christmas in the Courtyard! On December 6th from 10 AM to 4 PM, we invite you to come in from the cold and meet the incredibly talented makers and creators.

The Old Squash Court and the Marchmont Workshop will host a variety of resident and visiting makers. Come see beautiful items made in Scotland by craftspeople and find something to take home with you. Our makers who work on-site will be there, including the Marchmont Workshop, silversmiths from the Marchmont Silversmithing Workshop Katie Watson and Jessica Awaritefe, Springboard Studio holders Sara Rhys, Scarlett Farrer, and Anna Ólafsson, printmaker Georgie Fay, and sculptor Richard Goldsworthy.

We'll also be joined by some visiting artists and makers, so keep checking here and our socials to learn more!

Three Hills Coffee van will be in our Courtyard, be serving up hot drinks.

There should be plenty of baked goods, made by the residents, and some Christmas crafting paired with live music to warm the spirits in the Common Room.

Dr James Fox, our Creative Director, will be on-site to host some live fireside readings from his new book Craftland: A Journey Through Britain's Lost and Vanishing Trades.

Entry to the event is completely free to all! You just need to book a time slot for your car in our parking lot. We hope to see you there!
