Come and learn to weave a beautiful and durable rush seat at The Marchmont Workshop. This two day course will cover weaving a rush seat from start to finish, what tools and materials are necessary, as well as information on how and where to source your own rush for future endeavours. 

Using just a needle, thread, cloth and simple stitches, our own eyes, hands and heart to make something personal and timeless, and finding joy and fulfilment in the unhurried process, that is what Slow Stitch is about.

Artist Tansy Lee Moir will share some of the creative approaches and ecological knowledge she’s gathered in her 15 years of drawing trees. Find out how we can read the stories of the trees written in their forms and enjoy trying to capture their unique shapes in charcoal, graphite and conté crayon as we walk, talk and draw around the grounds.
