Drawing in the Garden - Natural Materials

-
April 15, 2026

11 AM - 3 PM

In this class artist Christopher Kent will continue to explore various aspects of the garden - foliage, flowers, trees, architecture.  We will go one step further by using materials directly from nature to make pigments. We will use leaves, roots, berries, vegetables etc to make new pigments to describe the world around us.

Students will develop confidence in their drawing while making observational sketches, as well as working intuitively and experimentally with some natural materials,

The practice can be challenging as well as absorbing and relaxing, encouraging mindfulness and self-confidence.

There will be a tutor talk and/or demonstration of drawing materials and methods. Students will have the opportunity to try out methods and share their work There’ll be lots of 1:1 tutor advice.

Beginners are welcome.
