A workshop with the floral experts from our Garden Team exploring Tataki-zome (flower hammering) and pressing flowers.
1:30 - 4:30 PM
August will be a peak flowering time in the Hugo Burge Foundation Walled Garden, so come and enjoy an afternoon of crafting with an amazing array of blooms.
This workshop will include Tataki-zome with freshly cut blooms, a Japanese art form where natural dyes are transferred from flowers and leaves onto fabric or paper by pounding them with a hammer, as well as a chance to get creative with our pressed flower and foliage collection. Pressing flowers are when fresh or dried flowers are flattened and preserved by applying pressure, typically between the pages of a book or in a flower press.
This day will be a relaxed and fun session that will inspire with the beauty of nature.
