Introduction to Sculptural Drawing

Learn how to capture movement, form, weight and solidity in your drawings using our art collection.

July 2, 2026

10.30am – 3.00pm

Taking inspiration from some of the Foundation’s collection of sculptures in the Glasshouses and Walled Garden, we will explore some sculptural approaches to drawing with charcoal, conté crayon, graphite and sanguine. Try a range of techniques, from bold gestures to delicate contours, and feel how changing the scale of a drawing alters its impact.

All materials will be provided and no experience is necessary - you will be supported and challenged to progress from where you are. Please bring a packed lunch and wear clothing you don’t mind getting dusty.

Max 10 People

If you would like to attend but costs would be a barrier, please contact enquiries@hugoburgefoundation.org for information about funded spots.
