Performance Residency - September 2024

We are looking for a performer or group of performers (a maximum of 3) to join us for a residency from September 16th to October 13th.

Residents will be given accommodation in our Courtyard Cottage and have exclusive use of the Old Squash Court, our largest studio space.

The resident or residents will also receive a weekly stipend of £350.

There are no expectations about what you will use the residency for but we would expect the selected performer(s) to conduct at least one public event such as a creative workshop (for adult participants), a talk, demonstration, performance or educational activity.

You will be able to spend time with other visual artists and makers on site, along with another visiting artist also on residency. Our Creative Director, Dr James Fox will provide mentorship during your stay.

Deadline to apply is July 5th.

Useful Info:

The Marchmont Estate is situated in a rural area with very little public transport. A car is recommended during your stay but is not essential.

All bed linens and towels are provided

Accommodation is fully self catering

Groceries can be delivered to the Estate by supermarkets in Berwick Upon Tweed

If you know of someone who would be suitable for this opportunity, please share this page with them. Or you may post this page on social media, using the buttons below, thank you.

Studios

Derelict buildings around Marchmont's former stable block have been completely renovated to become our studio spaces. Six studios are set around the courtyard: Upper Powerhouse, Lower Powerhouse (currently our office), North and South Studios, the Tower and the Old Squash Court. We hold two ‘Open Studio’ events every year, when the public can enjoy the outstanding work created in these spaces by our resident and visiting artists.

I am so grateful to the Hugo Burge Foundation for supporting me in this work. I can feel my project opening up and deepening at the same time.
